An internationally known movie star Nicole Kidman was born in Honolulu. Her mother Janelle worked as a nursing instructor and editor, while her father Antony was a biochemist and an author.
When a future star turned 4, the family moved to Australia, where Nicole grew up with her younger sister. At the age of 3 she began attending ballet classes, demonstrating her talent in primary as well as high school years. Having finished school, Kidman entered Victorian College of the Arts and then the Philip Street Theatre in Sydney.
She first appeared on a big screen in 1983 in the whole three movies throughout that year: BMX Bandits, Bush Christmas, Skin Deep and Chase Through the Night. Soon after that, the film star moved to America and her first project there was a movie Days of Thunder. The main breakthrough in her career happened after starring in Moulin Rouge in 2001.
