The Weeknd

A talented artist The Weeknd drew his first breath in Toronto, Canada in a family of Ethiopian immigrants. The family lived almost in poverty and so, his mom worked at several jobs to make the ends meet. The celebrity’s father didn’t take any part in the kid’s upbringing and soon left the family.

Because of lack of parent’s attention, a future star started smoking marihuana as well as missed school with his “shady” friends. At 17 he left school to pursue a career as a musician.

In the morning, a young starlet worked in a shop and in the evening, used to give concerts with friends. During one of those concerts, he was noticed by Jeremy Rose and the two started collaborating. Unfortunately, after four recorded tracks this collaboration ended because of a conflict.

The Weeknd didn’t give up and uploaded three singles on YouTube that brought him fame and recognition. Then he released a mixtape called House of Balloons that was positively accepted by critics as well as millions of his fans. This helped the artist to sign a contract with Republic Records and start presenting studio albums.

Apart from developing his solo career, the performer also creates music with such popular celebrities as Ariana Grande, Lana Del Rey, Kanye West, Beyonce, etc.

Finally, he is known for writing soundtracks to movies, e.g. Fifty Shades of Grey and others.
