A popular actor Tom Cruise and a beautiful film performer Katie Holmes made their first public appearance as a union in April 2005, having dated for just a couple of weeks. Just a month after that the actress shared that she converted to Scientology.
Engagement
Both celebrities had been going strong for several months, so in June 2005 they announced an engagement. It was a big surprise for millions of their fans as they had been seeing one another for just a few months. As the People magazine stated, Cruise popped the question with a teardrop-shaped ring at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, which was very romantic and of course, Holmes said- yes.
A baby and marriage
In April 2006 the whole world got to know that the movie star gave birth to a baby-girl, who they named Suri. In November of the same year the two lovebirds tied the knot in Italy. It was a very expensive lavish wedding that took place in Bracciano with Katie wearing a Giorgio Armani gown.
Unexpected divorce
The celebrities had been an example of a real deal in Hollywood and no one would ever think that they could have divorced. However, this is exactly what happened in June 2012 when Holmes filed for divorce from Cruise. According to many sources, the actor didn’t expect it at all and was really saddened because of it. Within 11 days after the divorce was filed, they reached a settlement on custody of their daughter. Katie got primary custody and her ex-husband was granted visitation rights.
The divorce process was difficult for both parties and unfortunately, they didn’t remain in a good relationship. The reason for a divorce is also still unknown.
