How did it all start?
The co-stars of a Rum Diary, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard first got acquainted on a set of a film back in 2009. And even though the movie didn’t do well with critics and the public, it served as the beginning of a romance.
When did they become a union?
The chemistry between the celebrities sparkled in 2012. They were seeing each other for two years until they finally made the first public appearance in 2014 at the 7th Annual Heaven Gala. It would be also interesting to know that just a few days after that they got engaged.
Marriage and first trouble in paradise
In 2015 the two love birds tied the knot officially in the Bahamas. However, their happiness turned out to be short-lived and very soon they started facing one problem after the other one. According to the Variety magazine, Depp received an injury during an argument with a wife. He smashed bottles, broke the window and sliced off a portion of his finger. Having done that, he wrote “Easy Amber” on the mirror with his blood, referring that she cheated on him with Billy Bob Thornton.
Divorce and its consequences
In 2016 the former co-stars got divorced and everything had been quiet for the next two years until Heard didn’t start talking about sexual violence and domestic abuse. She never mentioned her ex spouse but many people believed she meant Depp. The actor filed a defamation suit against Amber, proving with photographic evidence that she faked her claims of injuries.
What is happening now?
In 2019 the actress filed a motion to dismiss the complaint saying that her ex-husband was violent many times during their relationship and even called him a monster. Of course, the movie star filed an opposition, claiming that all her bruises were painted and that it was she who was abusive. Today, proceedings are still on-going, so we are eagerly waiting for the result.
